SACRAMENTO — Police arrested a suspect in the Nov. 14 shooting death of a 35-year-old man outside his residence on Tuesday.

The unidentified victim was found lying on his front lawn in the 4000 block of 32nd Street after 11 p.m. Saturday. Initially, a loud party in close proximity to where the body was found had detectives wondering if there was a connection between the two events.

That wasn’t clarified in a release from the Sacramento Police Department, which said suspect Eugene Walls was stopped at Fruitridge Road and Martin Luther King Boulevard on Tuesday, and initially arrested for the illegal possession of ammunition.

A search warrant pursuant to the homicide investigation at Walls’ residence resulted in the ammunition being located. Walls is prohibited from possessing ammunition due to his background.

After a follow-up investigation, detectives linked Walls to the homicide and arrested him for murder. It is still unclear what the motive for the homicide was.
