ROSEVILLE – Former Sacramento Kings basketball player Antoine Wright was sentenced Tuesday to three years informal probation for a Nov. 5 drunken driving arrest in Rocklin.

Placer Superior Court Judge Alan Pineschi also gave Wright, 26, a 15-day jail sentence, but said the NBA player could apply for alternative sentencing. Wright will also have to pay $450 in fines.

The NBA forward was not present when the judge handed down the sentence. Wright’s attorney entered a no-contest plea on his client’s behalf to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence.

Two additional charges of unlicensed driving and driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher were dismissed as part of a plea arrangement with the Placer County District Attorney’s Office.

The former Kings player had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit, prosecutor Matt Block said.

Judge Pineschi said the defendant must report to the Placer County Jail on March 30 to serve the remaining 14 days unless he applies for and receives the alternative sentence.

Wright was released from the Sacramento Kings on Nov. 29 and is no longer living in California.
