Leroy Wallace is still at large and wanted for the assault.

According to the Daily Republic, the 84-year-old man was at his home when two men allegedly came to his home and demanded money. The two men, identified by police as Adolph Greene, 45, and Leroy Wallace, 49, allegedly attacked the elderly man, knocking him to the ground and punching him several times. The suspects left, but not before taking cash from the man’s pocket.

The man called police and gave them a description of the men. A short time later Greene was seen near the man’s home. Greene was arrested on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy, and being drunk in public.

Greene has an extensive criminal record, and was let out of jail just last week. Court records show that Greene has been arrested seven times between 2002 and 2009, and three times since being release from prison last year. Wallace, whom police are still searching for, has an even more extensive local criminal record than Greene, according to the Daily Republic.

According to the Vallejo Times Herald, at about 5 a.m., a 66-year-old woman notified the police that she woke up because of a noise she heard in her room. The woman found a man standing in her room holding a flashlight in his hand. The woman reported that the man asked her for money, to which she responded she had none.

Police said the man then fled from the home. According to the Vallejo Times Herald, the suspect is described as a white man in his 20s, around 5 foot, 10 inches tall, and weighed around 150 pounds.

Police said the man entered the home through a window. The suspect was not reported to have been carrying a gun.

According to the Vallejo Times Herald, the woman was not injured and there was nothing reported to have been taken from the home.

According to the Vallejo Times Herald, on Tuesday Vallejo High School safety supervisors were notified by a maintenance crew employee that two teenagers were seen during school hours in a breezeway located at Corbus Field, said Terrance Greenwood, a safety supervisor. The field is off limits to students without teacher supervision.

When Greenwood arrived to the area, he and another supervisor saw the students and escorted them back to the school, where they were to be searched. One of the teens ran from the room they were in, Greenwood said.

Greenwood chased the teen and caught up with him in the quad area, where the teen admitted to having a handgun. Greenwood confiscated the gun, bringing the teen back to the office. According to the Vallejo Times Herald, no one was injured. The other teen was not reported to have been involved with the case.

On Sunday, police stated that the 17-year-old brought a loaded .22 automatic pistol.

The teen was booked at the Solano County juvenile hall.

The suspicious package was found outside this Starbucks in Murrieta

The briefcase was discovered outside a Starbucks Coffee Shop at 40735 Murrieta Hot Springs Road. Employees discovered the briefcase and called police at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday. Starbucks employees told police the briefcase had not been there on Saturday night when the store closed.

Upon arrival, police noted the combination lock was set at all zeroes, according to a Murrieta police news release. Clearing the area, Murrieta police called in the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad. A remote-controlled robot was used to X-ray the briefcase, discovering items with circuit boards and wires inside. The unit used a 12-gauge water cannon to blast open the briefcase.

Murrieta Police Lt. Ron Firmes said the briefcase was blown open, unveiling a guitarist’s iPad unit, a guitar amplifier and mixing machine used in musical concert speaker systems. Police could not find any identification inside the briefcase.

Police deduced that the equipment likely belonged to a band that had performed at a nearby pub, Firmes said, adding that it was unclear how the briefcase wound up across the parking lot from Spelly’s Pub & Grill. Firmes said police talked to a band member, who told him they likely forgot the briefcase when they were loading up their gear from the parking lot.

The corner of Sonoma and Tennessee, where the confrontation took place

According to the Vallejo Times Herald, officers saw two men that they tried to contact at the corner of Tennessee Street and Sonoma Boulevard. Police said one of the men appeared to have thrown away something that looked like it could be narcotics. Police tried to talk to the two men, but one, 37-year-old Robert Turner, allegedly tried to walk away. It was at that time that police tried to detain Turner, who then became violent, trying to kick the officer.

Police said as they held Turner to the ground, the second man, 44-year-old Marcus Cogmon of Vallejo, became combative and tried to intervene in the arrest of Turner. The second police officer used a Taser on Cogman after he became combative.

According to the Vallejo Times Herald, both Turner and Cogmon were arrested and booked on suspicion of loitering with the intent to engage in drug-related activities. Additionally Turner was booked on suspicion of possessing crack cocaine, battery on a police officer and using violent force to evade arrest. Cogmon was additionally booked on suspicion of resisting arrest, possessing marijuana. Cogman was also found to have an outstanding felony parole warrant.

Ernie Chanmany is wanted in connection with the disappearance of Sammy Mercado

Ernie Chanmany, 21, is wanted for murder, attempted murder, and weapons charges in connection to the disappearance of 16-year-old Sammy Mercado. The teenager’s body has not been found.

Mercado was last seen on April 12 with two of his friends at a marijuana grow site near the intersection of Annadale and Willow avenues.

“They had gone there with the intent of stealing marijuana,” Lt. Robert Salazar said about the three teens.

The three friends drove to the site around 7:30 a.m. that day. Mercado exited the car on his own and began approaching the field. At that time, two Asian males emerged from a homemade hut and one of them started shooting at Mercado, police said. Mercado’s two friends initially drove away, leaving the teen lying on the ground.

Mercado’s two friends returned to the scene later to look for him, but were unable to find him. Evidence at the scene indicated that Mercado had been shot, authorities said. Detectives believe that men guarding the marijuana grow site shot Mercado and then hauled him away from the field.

On April 19, two pickup trucks connected to the case were found in an orchard in Fresno. Officials with the Sheriff’s Department said that evidence from these trucks, as well as other evidence gathered throughout the investigation, helped lead them to Chanmany as a person of interest in the case. He is now wanted for murder in connection to Mercado’s disappearance.

Chanmany’s whereabouts are unknown at this time. His last known address was on South Chance Avenue in Fresno. According to the Sheriff’s Office, he could be in Las Vegas, Nevada or Memphis, Tennessee.

Chanmany is described as a Lao male, 5’6” tall, 135 pounds, with black hair brown eyes. He has a dragon tattoo on his left shoulder, a tattoo that says “Chanmany” on his chest, and 01-01-10 tattooed on his left wrist.

Anyone with information on Chanmany’s whereabouts is asked to immediately contact the Sheriff’s Office at 488-3111 or 498-STOP.

A sixth bomb was discovered on Saturday by a jogger who spotted the device about a foot off the sidewalk. While there have been no injuries, there has been a rising concern that the devices – described as six-inch metal or plastic piping, stuffed with explosive material connected to an unlit and exposed fuse – have been discovered in areas in north Palm Springs.

The jogger discovered the latest device, which was held together by duct tape, outside a home in the 27000 block of Verona Rd., police said. Just over three hours later, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Hazardous Device Team provided a robot to disable the bomb. Police confirmed that the bomb was “live.”

Federal authorities joined the hunt after Saturday’s discovery. Hopes are that a reward would help investigators from the FBI and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives gain important information on the maker of these bombs.

The reward is made up of $5,000 contributions from the ATF, FBI and the city of Palm Springs.

FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiler said, “A situation like this would concern us until an individual or group is identified and we can establish motive. The FBI’s jurisdiction would be based on concern that this individual poses a terrorist threat, whether domestic or international, as well as to assist our law enforcement partners, where necessary.”

The first bomb was discovered by a 92-year-old man out for a walk, near East San Rafael Rd. Two days later, four additional bombs were discovered in that same area. Verona Rd., where the sixth device was discovered, is a mile southeast of Sunrise Way. Police did not say if there was evidence that the person that left the bomb on Verona was responsible for the other bombs.

Police shut down traffic on various streets near the site of the sixth bomb, conducting searches for additional explosive devices.

Fresno police have identified the victim as 52-year-old George Gowanlock. Police received calls about a shooting on Friday at 3 p.m. at a house across the street from the Southwest Fresno police station, on the 1100 block of Tuolomne Street between B and C streets.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found Gowanlock suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Although medical personnel were also called to the scene and attempted to revive the man, the victim was declared dead at the scene, according to the police.

Gowanlock did not live at the location, police said, but he was known to have some association with the house. At this point, police do not have a motive or a suspect for the shooting. They have witnesses who said they heard arguing in the home before the gunshots went off.

Police are not new to the house, though.

“I know that we have had quite a number of calls for service at the location,” said Lt. Burke Farrah with the Fresno Police Department.

Police will now be reviewing those calls to determine whether the victim had any connection to those previous incidents, and if they can provide any clues to Gowanlock’s murder.

This is Fresno’s 19^th homicide so far this year. Last year at this time, there were 18 homicides.

A snazzy Dodge Viper convertible and a dozen Thomas Kinkade oil paintings were seized pursuant to a raid upon a marijuana cultivation operation in Santa Maria on May 8^th.

According to Santa Barbara County Sheriff Public Information Officer Drew Sugars, SBSD Narcotics Detectives had been “working several leads pointing to a substantial grow” in a Santa Maria warehouse; with search warrants in hand, detectives found nearly one thousand marijuana plants under cultivation in a sophisticated indoor agricultural operation.  Additional evidence in the form of several pounds of processed marijuana and an illegal firearm was also located during the search.

Detectives then served a search warrant upon the residence of the warehouse lessee, Jesse Adam Delacruz, 41, and found numerous high-end electronic items, the Kinkade paintings valued at more than $30,000, and assorted consumer goods “believed to have been purchased with the proceeds from illegal marijuana sales,” Sugars said.

Shortly after the discovery of the evidence at both locations, Delacruz was contacted at his Santa Maria place of employment and arrested on charges of felony cultivation of more than 25 pounds of marijuana, felony possession of marijuana for sales, and felony possession of an illegal firearm.  He was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on $50,000 bail.

According to CHP, officers attempted to pull over J. Pedro C. Lopez, 55, on 101 on his way to San Luis Obispo from Atascadero because he was driving less than 40 mph.

After pulling to the side of the road two times, Lopez raced away. CHP says the speeds reached 100 mph. Officers say Lopez crashed the vehicle near the Monterey Street off-ramp of 101. He was uninjured. Officers say Lopez was tested for being under the influence via a blood test as alcohol was not present on his breath.

Lopez was charged with on suspicion of felony evading arrest and driving under the influence. It is still not clear exactly why Lopez fled police.
