A routine probation search resulted in the arrests of four men and the dismantling of an illegal marijuana cultivation operation in San Jose last week.

According to Milpitas police, officers went to a residence in San Jose at about 10 a.m. on June 27 to conduct the probation search and execute an arrest warrant for 28-year-old David Morales. Morales was wanted on burglary charges stemming from a 2011 residential burglary in Milpitas.

Detectives encountered Morales and two others as they arrived at the residence in the 3600 block of McKee Road. Morales immediately fled and detectives gave chase, eventually locating him in a nearby backyard. He was taken into custody at the scene for burglary, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, prowling, and a probation violation.

Authorities searched the residence as part of the probation check and came across an illegal indoor marijuana growing operation, police say. The home’s interior had been modified as a grow house and more than 500 marijuana plants were seized, as well as a large sum of money and several firearms.

Detectives arrested 28-year-old Johnny Munoz, III and 25-year-old Omar Tucker at the scene. A fourth suspect, 25-year-old Jason Singh, arrived home during the probation search and was also arrested, officials say.

The three men were booked into Santa Clara County Jail for illegal marijuana cultivation and possession of marijuana for sale. Tucker was also listed as a violent criminal and was also booked for an outstanding weapons arrest warrant out of Colorado.

Anyone with information on this incident or other marijuana cultivation locations is urged to contact Milpitas police at (408) 586-2400. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call (408) 586-2500.
