Fresno County Health Clinician Arrested on Rape Charges

FRESNO – The Fresno County Sheriff’s Department announced the arrest of a Fresno County worker on suspicion of sexually assaulting a client.

Pao Vue Vang, 52, was arrested on Monday and booked into Fresno County Jail, but was released on  bond. Vang, an employee with the Fresno County Behavioral Health Department, allegedly sexually assaulted one of his clients on Friday during an appointment.

“He forcefully sexually assaulted this female who had an appointment with him at his office,” said Chris Curtice, spokesperson for the sheriff’s department. “She was eventually able to fight him off.”

The 27-year-old victim reported Vang to the sheriff’s department. She said she was a patient of Vang’s at the County Behavioral Health Clinic in Southwest Fresno. After the victim reported the incident, sheriff’s detectives interviewed Vang at the sheriff’s department. Based on the interview, Vang was arrested.

“Detectives felt they had enough evidence to arrest him on at least two charges,” Curtice said. Those two charges are rape and sexual penetration with a foreign object by force.

Vang is an unlicensed clinician, which meant he was under supervision because he had not accumulated enough hours to work on his own. The Behavioral Health Department issued a statement saying that Vang had worked for the department for 10 years, but was no longer an employee.

“The department’s first priority is assisting consumers and ensuring their safety and well-being,” the statement said.

Sheriff’s detectives are now trying to determine if Vang had any other victims. Any victims or anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to call the sheriff’s department at (559) 488-3111.
