Ventura County - An investigation by Ventura County Sheriff Gang Unit Detectives that began with the New Year has apparently become fruitful with the arrest of four men from Fillmore suspected of trafficking in the sale and transfer of illegal firearms.

Martin Gaspar

According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Cpt. Don Aguilar, VCSD Detectives obtained a search warrant for two residences in Fillmore and served the first one at 10:00 a.m. on January 17th.  The occupant of that home, Arthur Escoto, 27, was found to be a “prohibited person in possession of a firearm,” as well as in possession of a stolen firearm and being under the influence of a controlled substance while in possession of those weapons.  He was ultimately booked into Ventura County Jail on those charges as well as counts of street terrorism and receiving stolen property.

Jasmine Medina

With that notch on their belts, detectives then proceeded to a second location in Fillmore where they contacted Martin Gaspar, 23, Jasmine Medina, 18, and Daniel Cervantes, 22.  Each was suspected of conspiracy in working with Escoto in acquiring and selling firearms, and were determined at the time of their warrant contact to be under the influence of controlled substances and of being in possession of drug paraphernalia.

All four suspects are currently held in custody at Ventura County Jail.
