SAN BERNARDINO – Nearly 12 hours after a triple shooting in San Bernardino on Tuesday that resulted in one death, police arrested a 21-year-old suspect.

Esequiel Cisneros, 21, of Rialto was arrested in the shooting death of Gregorio Gonzales, Jr., 19, who died in the 200 block of South Lenore Ave. after being shot at 2:04 a.m.
San Bernardino spokesman, Sgt. Gary Robertson who is the head of the department’s homicide division, said the shootings might be gang-related.

THe shooting occurred at the corner of Mt. Vernon and Congress Streets

The victims were shot just southeast of Mt. Vernon Ave. and Congress St., and included Gonzales and an unidentified 20-year-old man and 16-year-old boy, both of San Bernardino. The older man was treated for a minor wound while the teenager is expected to recover from his injuries.

Lt. Paul Williams said one of the shooting victims underwent surgery at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. “He’s currently in good condition,” said Williams. Robertson said the shooting broke out when the victims, among others, had showed up at a makeshift memorial service for another murdered friend. While paying their respects, he said, Cisneros showed up and began speaking with people at the service.

Cisneros opened fire, said Robertson, and fled. “It appears the shooting stemmed from some disrespecting remarks,” said Robertson, adding that the shooting was from an earlier incident.

Cisneros, who was arrested at his home on the 100 block of East Olive Ave. in Rialto at 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday, was booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.
San Bernardino police have investigated 12 murders during in May, the number coming close to numbers seen during the 1990s when gang warfare was reaching high amounts.
