LOOMIS – Police responding to an Onstar stolen vehicle report ended up with 3 arrests for burglary and auto theft.

Brandon Black was arrested after he was seen entering the stolen car

On Friday, January 4th at 9:45 AM, police received a report from Onstar, the General Motors vehicle assistance system, that a vehicle that had been reported as stolen was located in Loomis, in the area of Colvin Drive and Myrtle Drive. According to a Rocklin Police Department press release, Placer County Sheriffs deputies and the Placer Regional Auto Theft Task Force (RATTF) responded to the location to investigate. The vehicle had been reported as stolen from Rocklin, along with a report of a residential burglary and other nearby thefts.

After locating the stolen car, the officers saw a man exiting a house on Myrtle and get into the car. They immediately arrested Brandon Edward Black, 28 of Orangevale, without incident on suspicion of vehicle theft. Rocklin Police detectives then arrived on the scene to take custody of the suspect and recover the stolen vehicle. They also requested and obtained a search warrant for the house Black had come from.

At 5:10 PM, the Detectives, along with Sheriff’s deputies, served the search warrant at the house, but in the process a man and woman left from the back and attempted to escape through neighborhood backyards. Under pursuit from the officers, who had the help of a Sheriff’s Office helicopter, the pair were located and arrested within 30 minutes, about a mile from the house. Kyle Anthony Mondfrans (28 of Newcastle) and his sister Kelly Annette Mondfrans (29 of Loomis) were both detained.

Brother and sister Kyle Mondfrans and Kelly Mondfrans tried to escape the house but were soon tracked down by police.

A search of the house on Myrtle yielded numerous items listed as stolen from vehicles in Rocklin. Brandon Black was booked into the Placer County jail on charges of residential burglary, vehicle theft, and a parole violation. He is ineligible for bail due to a parole hold. Kyle and Kelly Mondfrans were both booked on charges of receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, and conspiracy to commit a crime. Kyle also has a parole hold making him ineligible for bail, while Kelly’s bail is set at $5,000.

Rocklin Police Chief Ron Lawrence stated that ”I continue to be thankful for the multi-agency cooperation throughout Placer County. Our strong law enforcement partnerships help us fight crime and keep the citizens of Placer County safer.”
