“On Friday, February 16, 2024, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the Delano Police Department was called to 813 Ellington Street, Truji’s Automotive and Electric Repair, regarding a commercial burglary. Officers arrived and discovered the business had been ransacked, vandalized, and painted with gang-related graffiti. The victim reported the theft of two vehicles, vehicle keys, tools, and a 3-month-old Belgian Malinois puppy named Brownie.

The investigation led to the recovery of one stolen vehicle and the arrest of a juvenile suspect. Inside the recovered vehicle, officers found Brownie unharmed and safely returned him to the business. Further investigations identified a second juvenile suspect involved in the burglary, who was subsequently arrested at their residence. Officers pinpointed the location of the second stolen vehicle at a residence on the west side of town. A search warrant was authored and executed by investigators of the Delano Police Department. The outstanding stolen vehicle and property were located and returned to the owners.

Both juveniles were arrested and booked into Kern County Probation Department – Youth Detention Center for burglary, vehicle theft, vandalism, participation in a criminal street gang, grand theft of a dog (Brownie), and conspiracy.
