VICTORVILLE — A 17-year-old, suspected of cutting up a 52-year-old man at a neighborhood party, was arrested this weekend for attempted murder. Victorville police were seeking a second suspect on Monday.

Police responded to a report that a man suffering from a cut arm and throat in the 15600 block of Sueno Lane on Saturday night. Once police arrived, the man was airlifted to Arrowhead Medical Regional Center in San Bernardino for treatment.

Deputy Justin Snyder found a juvenile suspect in an apartment nearby. The 17-year-old, who had a laceration that required stitches, was eventually booked after receiving medical attention.

The investigation, which is continuing, revealed that trouble began at the neighborhood party at an apartment complex.

“The juvenile suspect started questioning party goers about money he was missing,” said police official Karen Hunt. “He began accusing people of taking his money, resulting in a physical altercation with the victim and a second suspect.”

Deputies recovered a broken beverage bottle believed to have been used to cut the victim’s arm, neck and abdomen. A second suspect, an 18-year-od Victorville resident, has yet to be located for questioning.

Witnesses, deputies say, believe he also has injuries.

The 17-year-old suspect was treated for his injuries, arrested and booked at Apple Valley Juvenile Detention Center on attempted murder charges. His name has not been released because of his age. The condition of the victim is not yet known.
