DEVORE – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s are still seeking an escaped inmate from the Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center, who escaped on Tuesday.

Darnell Keith Washington is still missing and wanted

Darnell Keith Washington, 24, of Los Angeles, a six-foot, 185-pound black man with a tattoo of a cross on his right arm which reads “By Any Means,” was scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 14 for charges on robbery and receiving stolen property. Authorities suspect Washington, who has black hair and brown eyes, was wearing his orange jumpsuit when he escaped.

Sheriff official Jodi Miller said deputies noticed Washington was missing during cell checks. “They are conducting an investigation as to how he may have left the facility,” she said.

The Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center, located north of San Bernardino, was the site where two other escapes took place in June. It has a prisoner capacity of 1,024 inmates and generally runs at full capacity, according to a release.

Steven Patrick Gallagher and Jonathan Wayne Mundo escaped earlier and have both been captured

Steven Patrick Gallagher, 24, of Pomona, and Jonathan Wayne Mundo, 23, of Las Vegas, had escaped on June 19. Gallagher was tracked to Tijuana, Mexico where he was arrested by Mexican Federal Police and turned over to U.S. authorities. Police recaptured Mundo in nearby Highland and booked him into county jail. Both men were assisted in the escape by Kenneth Dewayne Gillis, 20, of Victorville, part of a team of robbers that held up jewelry stores in Montclair and Henderson, Nevada, said officials. Gillis was arrested for his role in their escape.

Miller said officials at the jail are investigating both escapes.
