Suspect still at large

SAN JUAN BAUTISTA—Authorities with the San Benito County Sheriff’s Department are still on the lookout for 29-year-old Prunedale resident Cameron Paul Bush after he assaulted a man then attempted to kidnap his ex-girlfriend.

Incident occurred near here on Anzar Road

Shortly before midnight on Monday, sheriff’s deputies from the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 900 block of Anzar Road in San Juan Bautista on a disturbance between a two men and a female.

When deputies arrived at the scene a male and a female who were outside of their trailer met them. The deputies learned that while the couple was outside, a silver four-door vehicle drove up and the driver got out with a metal pipe in his hand.

The victim immediately recognized the male as Bush, who is the ex-boyfriend of the female.  Bush yelled to the female to “get into his car” as he charged the male, hitting him several times with the pipe.

As the female did not want to get into the vehicle Bush grabbed her and forced her into the vehicle and attempted to leave the trailer park.  The female was able to escape from the vehicle by fighting off Bush.  He then left the area driving in an unknown direction.

“The vehicle that Bush was driving was later found at his grandmothers home in Prunedale,” San Benito County Sheriff’s Sergeant Tony Lamonica said. “We know he is from the Monterey County area but he is still at large.”

The female victim told authorities that she and Bush had ended their relationship about a year ago.  While at the scene, both the male and female victims declined medical attention.

On Tuesday morning, deputies learned of a stolen 1998 Toyota Tacoma with California License plate 7B59755 with a camper shell.  Deputies are still unsure if Bush had anything to do with the vehicle’s disappearance.

Bush is on active parole and is considered to be armed and dangerous.  If anyone knows of his whereabouts “DO NOT ATTEMPT” to contact him but please notify the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office immediately at 1-831-636-4080 or the TIP-LINE at 1-831-636-4084
