ELK GROVE — Two unsuccessful party crashers are in jail after indiscriminately spraying the house from which they were rebuffed in a drive-by Friday night.

The two males, Steven Brown of Elk Grove and an unnamed 17-year-old accomplice from Sacramento, had attempted to gain entry to a house party on the 8300 block of Caldicot Drive and, after being sent away cruised by in their vehicle and fired shots into a group of people standing outside the residence.

Sacramento resident Andrew Tapalla was treated at Methodist Hospital for a gunshot wound to the buttock. No one else was reported injured in the shooting.

Elk Grove police stopped the suspects’ vehicle as it sped away from the area of the shooting. During the pat-down of Brown, a small caliber handgun fell out of his pant leg onto the ground. Authorities say Brown was unable to provide an explanation for the weapon. In addition, witnesses positively identified both suspects.

Brown and his juvenile accomplice were arrested and booked on a multitude of charges, including attempted murder. Brown was booked into Sacramento County Jail, while the 17-year-old was booked at juvenile hall.

Anyone with additional information regarding the shooting is encouraged to call the Elk Grove Police Department Detective Bureau at (916) 478- 8060.
