Detectives from the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal attack of a man in Rancho Cordova the evening of Monday, November 26, according to an official press release.

Tywan Johnson

Tywan Johnson, 28, was reportedly booked into jail the afternoon of Tuesday, November 27, on a charge of murder, and is being held without bail.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, on Monday, November 26, shortly after 8:00 pm, Rancho Cordova police officers responded to the 2800 block of La Loma Drive, in response to a deceased subject. Emergency medical personnel were reportedly on scene after receiving a call of an injured man at that location, and found that he had sustained fatal injuries. The victim, a 55 year-old male, reportedly suffered wounds consistent with blunt and sharp force trauma.

After further investigation from a witness of a fight between Johnson and the victim, plus evidence recovered at the scene, detectives were able to identify Johnson as the suspect in the killing. The Sheriff’s Department reportedly believes Johnson was casually acquainted with the victim, and it was an argument related to a dispute over money that let to Johnson attacking and fatally wounding the victim. Johnson was reportedly arrested at his Sacramento County residence without incident.

The victim was found near the Cordova Pet Clinic in La Loma Drive

Anyone having further information about this case is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (916) 874-5115.
