San Bernardino Police Arrest Nov. 13 Murder Suspect

SAN BERNARDINO – SWAT team members were in place for a possible showdown with a murder suspect who was taken into custody early Wednesday morning without incident.

Shariff Taylor, 34, is suspected of killing Tamra Sue Tingle, 45, of Rialto on Nov. 13. Police carefully described Taylor as person of interest in the killing. Police arrived at 6:40 a.m. and he surrendered after 20 minutes, leaving his residence at the 2300 block of Alameda St. just after 7 a.m. SWAT team members had been sent to the scene, said Lt. Paul Williams, because of Taylor’s reported violent history. It was later when Taylor was charged on suspicion of murder.

Two days after finding Tingle, an autopsy revealed that she was the victim of foul play. The county coroner was unable to identify her for several weeks until a fingerprints check through the California Motor Vehicles Dept. revealed her identity, family members were then notified on Wednesday.

Tingle, described as 5-feet-4, 195 pounds with medium-length brown hair, was found dead in the rear portion of an empty business near Perris Hill Park in the 1100 block of East Highland Ave. Originally, police listed her Tingle’s age in her 30s. Police, unable to determine her identity, requested the public’s help.

No motive was divulged by police. Nor would they disclose if Taylor knew Tingle. Taylor rented a room at the Alameda Ave. residence, which is about a quarter-mile from where Tingle’s body was discovered. Taylor, awaiting a Friday arraignment in San Bernardino Superior Court, was sitting in West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.
