SAN BERNARDINO – Two men were shot, one killed, and another stabbed on Friday at a location near an “End of the World” party. On Monday, police had no additional information about the incident that caused the death of Felipe Jason Moreno, 20, of San Bernardino who had been fatally shot. His cousin, Daniel Gomez, 22, had been wounded.

Dearmin was stabbed at a house on North Mountain Avenue

Officers had been investigating the non-fatal stabbing of Robert Forrest Dearmin, Jr., 29, in a house in the 1200 block of North Mountain Ave., a residence police said is normally frequented by transients.

During the investigation, shots were fired at around midnight on Friday night in the 1300 block of West Seventh St. The violence erupted when a party described as an “End of the World” gathering was coming to an end, said police. Up until that time the party, themed around the widely publicized notion that an ancient Mayan calendar predicted that the world would end on December 21st, 2012, had been non-violent, said police. Moreno and Gomez were shot in a vehicle, according to Sgt. Gary Robertson, adding they were driving away at the time gunfire had erupted. The car rolled to a stop when Moreno, the driver, died from wounds to his upper torso. Gomez suffered gunshot wounds to his left.

The fatal shooting occurred about 2 miles away at 7th Avenue near Mt Vernon

There is a possibility, said Robertson, of two shooters because two different types of shell casings were discovered at the scene. But he said one set may have been there before Friday’s shooting.

Robertson said Dearmin did not cooperate fully with police during their investigation on what led to his stabbing. Several people were interviewed, said Robertson, but little useful information was provided.
By Monday, Lt. Paul Williams, spokesman for San Bernardino Police, said there was nothing new on the shootings or stabbing, nor any suspects.
