SANTA BARBARA — A Santa Barbara man remains in serious condition at the city’s Cottage Hospital following his shooting in the doorway of the Westside home he shares with his aunt.

A middle-aged white man, a blonde white female and two black men seen fleeing the scene of the deadly attack in an older black Volvo sedan are being sought in connection with the Thursday shooting at the victim’s residence.

According to Lt. Paul McCaffrey, Santa Barbara Police Department spokesman, the white male suspect knocked at the door of the victim’s home and was greeted by a middle-aged female occupant. The suspect allegedly punched the woman in the abdomen and brandished a handgun, whereupon he was confronted by the victim seeking to protect his aunt. The suspect summarily shot the victim in the head and then fled the scene in the black Volvo in the company of the three others.

Santa Barbara police are currently investigating the incident and request anyone with information about the suspects or the 1990-era Volvo to contact them at (805) 897-2335.
