A San Luis Obispo man told police he was assaulted and robbed by three transients on Monday night around 10 p.m. near the Mission Plaza.

Mission Plaza

According to the victim, Gareth Morgan, 26, of San Luis Obispo, he was walking in the area of Mission Plaza on Monday night when two male suspects allegedly attacked him.

The two male suspects were described by witnesses as white male transients in their 20s.

Witnesses say one of the suspects was wearing a blue crew sweatshirt and the other suspect was seen wearing a grey-hooded sweatshirt.

Witnesses also told police there was also a female, who was also described as a transient, who appeared to be associated with the two male suspects. She was seen with two dogs. One was described as a pit bull and the other a shaggy type of dog.

The witnesses said they were able to yell at the suspects as they approached which resulted in the suspects and the female fleeing the scene.

Police say at the time of the attack the victim was in possession of a backpack and wallet, which were missing and not recovered at the scene. Police believe the items were taken by the suspects.

The victim, Morgan, suffered moderate injuries, including cuts to his face and a possible concussion. He was transported to Sierra Vista Hospital for evaluation.
