Santa Barbara - Proving once again that “working from home” is not all it’s cracked up to be, Sgt. Riley Harwood, Santa Barbara Police Department Public Information Officer, announced to the media the successful conclusion of a month-long investigation by Narcotics Detectives into the activities of two middle-aged Westside neighborhood women resulting in the pair being arrested on charges ranging from conspiracy to heroin sales.

Maria Imelda Robles

According to Harwood’s media report, Maria Imelda Robles, 46, and Regina Marie Trujillo, both residents of an otherwise quiet residential neighborhood, “were working together to distribute heroin” from their homes.  As detailed by Harwood, their conspiratorial operation involved retail heroin buyers who would place an “order” for the drug from Robles.  Robles would then buy it from Trujillo at a reduced volume price and then complete the retail sales to her buyers.  Once detectives were aware of the women’s activity, surveillance by detectives ensued wherein multiple drug transactions were observed throughout the day.

SBPD detectives, armed with search warrants, contacted both suspects and determined that they were in possession of heroin for sale.  Found within the premises of Trujillo’s residence were 30 bindles of heroin ready for street sale, and more than $5,000 cash. During the service of the warrants and concomitant arrests of Robles and Trujillo, neighboring area residents approached the detectives to “express appreciation of the Police Department’s effort to stop the drug sales on their street,” Harwood reported.

Both Trujillo and Robles were booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on charges of heroin sales, conspiracy to sell heroin, and possession of heroin for sale, with bail set at $30,000 each.
