JURUPA — Two months after the Norco bank was robbed, Riverside County sheriff’s officials arrested a female suspect.

Melanie Conway-Pierce, 36, who had been tentatively identified as the suspect in a January bank robbery in Riverside, was arrested without incident Monday in Riverside, two months after the March 10 robbery of the Citibank in Norco.

During the March 10 incident, the lone suspect entered the bank, presenting the teller with a demand note. The teller complied with the suspect’s demands, handing her an undisclosed amount of cash. The robber was last seen heading southbound on Hamner Avenue in Norco.

She was described as an adult in her mid-30s, 5-3 to 5-5, 130 pounds, blond hair, wearing sunglasses, white gloves, black and white baseball cap with stars on the front, black jacket with white cuffs and blue jeans.

This week, the sheriff’s department received information about a specific person that had been involved in the robbery. In following up that information, authorities identified Conway-Pierce and apprehended her on the 3000 block of Franklin Avenue in Riverside on Monday.

She has been charged with two counts of robbery, having been booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center. Bail was set at $50,000.

The investigation, said sheriff’s Sgt. Adam Vallejo, is continuing.
