TULARE COUNTY – A man accused of kidnapping and robbing a woman from Delano was arrested by Tulare County sheriff’s deputies on Thursday.

Deputies arrested 29-year-old Orlando Gonzalez from Alpaugh and booked him into the Tulare County Main Jail.

Road 84 and Avenue32

The alleged kidnapping and robbery occurred late on Tuesday. Deputies from the Pixley substation were dispatched to Rd. 84 north of Avenue 32 in Allensworth for a report that a woman had been physically forced into a vehicle and taken away by the suspect. The abduction was reported at 11:15 p.m., according to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department.

At the scene, detectives learned that the female victim, who has not been named, and a friend arrived at a relative’s residence in Allensworth at the same time Gonzalez arrived. The suspect knew the victim and forcibly removed her from the vehicle she was in, according to the sheriff’s department.

The woman tried to escape and was yelling as Gonzalez threw her into his car and sped away. The victim was allegedly held by Gonzalez for nine hours before he released her. She called her relatives from her home on Wednesday around 8:30 a.m. to let them know the suspect had let her go. The victim was uninjured except for some minor bruises.

The woman told authorities that Gonzalez forcibly took her purse, and used her bank card to remove several hundred dollars from her account through an ATM.
Around 9:22 a.m. on Wednesday, deputies located Gonzalez returning to his residence. They took him into custody without incident. The stolen money was recovered and Gonzalez was booked on charges of kidnapping and robbery.
