“A third suspect connected to a 2017 attempted murder in Watsonville has been arrested.

Armando Rodriguez, 23, was taken into custody this morning on the 700 block of N. Branciforte Avenue in Santa Cruz.

Recently, WPD detectives received new information linking Rodriguez to the 2017 shooting on Roosevelt Street, where two suspects shot at a man multiple times. The victim eventually recovered from his injuries.

Rodriguez, a known gang member, was the getaway driver who helped the shooters flee the area. The armed suspects, Alejandro Flores and Jacob Hernandez, were arrested within a week of the attempted murder and are still in county jail awaiting trial.

Rodriguez was the only outstanding suspect in this case. He has been booked into the county jail on attempted murder charges.

A special thanks to Santa Cruz Police for lending us a hand during this morning’s search warrant service!”
