REDLANDS – Police are still searching for a woman who jumped the counter of a gas station convenience store, physically forcing the clerk to open the cash register late Monday night.

The robbery occurred about 9 p.m. at a Chevron gas station at 1580 West Redlands Blvd., according a Redlands police news release.

“No weapons were used,” said police spokesman Carl Baker. “That’s why it’s listed as a strong arm robbery.”

“(There were) no injuries,” Baker said. “No one else was in the store.”

Baker reported that the woman, described as African-American between 25 and 30 years old, 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8 weighing between 115 to 125 pounds. At the time, she was wearing gray skinny jeans with a jewel design on the back pockets, plus a teal-colored sweatshirt with black stripes and white sneakers.

Baker said he was not aware of any other robberies with this suspect description.

The woman left with cash and drove away in a late model white Chevrolet Suburban with tinted windows and shiny rims, said Baker.

The Chevron station is located across the street from various businesses, a busy intersection that is close to Interstate 10. The suspect, said Baker, was last seen driving eastbound on Colton Avenue which was the direction of downtown Redlands. The local police department is less than one mile from the Chevron station.

Police are hoping anyone with information about the robbery or the suspect will contact the department’s dispatch (909-798-7681). Anonymous tips can be provided by texting 274637 using the keyword “REDTIP.”
