3 murder suspects in court Oct. 1 for gang shooting

PASADENA – The17-year-old boy killed in the Sept. 25 gang shooting “was in the wrong place at the wrong time,” said Janet Pope-Givens, spokesperson for the Pasadena Police Department.

The real targets of the gang shooting last week fled the scene unharmed. Deon Lamar Holloway, who was accompanying them, had no prior record of gang activity, Pope-Givens said.

Three murder suspects for the shooting were charged with murder and a special allegation of committing a felony on behalf of a street gang appeared in court Oct. 1. They are Kamaron Lemont Walker, 27, of Duarte; Eric Alexander Williams, 30, of Altadena; and Juan Antonio Villatoro, 22, of Altadena. All three were arrested last week, reported the Pasadena Star News on Tuesday. None of the three have previous felony convictions.

At about 10 p.m. Sept. 25, Holloway was shot multiple times in the upper body in the 1700 block of Belmont Avenue. He died at the scene, the Pasadena Star News reported. A car pulled up to the victim, the suspect got out, fired multiple shots, got back in the car and drove away.

Pope-Givens noted that Pasadena has seen an increase in gang-related activity over the last year.
