Irvine Police Nab Suspected Thugs Shortly After Robberies
IRVINE, CA – Two men have been arrested in connection with a series of armed robberies that occurred Wednesday night.
Curtis Love and Lavelle Williams, both 19-years-old of Long Beach, were pulled over just after 9:30 p.m. near Alton Parkway and Jeffrey Road. According to police the two suspects, along with their dark gray vehicle, matched descriptions given by victims that had been attacked in two earlier robberies.
The first robbery occurred around 8:30 pm when a man walking near Spyglass and Knollcrest was confronted by the two suspects who stopped their car ahead of him and got out of the vehicle. Brandishing a hand gun and demanding money, the two reportedly took the man’s bag, cell phone and some cash before fleeing the area.
Almost an hour later at 9:25 pm, a second male victim was accosted in his garage in the 3900 block of Balsa. Again two suspects, armed with a hand gun, demanded money before striking the man in the head with the gun.
The victim would not give them anything, however, and the suspects fled.
This second victim provided the same description as the first, leading police to pull over Love and Williams shortly thereafter.
Inside the suspect vehicle police found a pellet pistol matching the victims’ descriptions of their attacker’s weapon, a replica sawed-off shotgun and the stolen property from the earlier robbery.
Police believe the two suspects may have been involved in other crimes in the area and ask anyone with additional information to contact Detective Victoria Hurtado at (949) 724-7194.
