Female bank robber being sought
SACRAMENTO — An undisguised, middle-aged woman who held up the U.S. Bank branch located inside a Carmichael Safeway grocery store is being saught by ther FBI.
According to Special Agent Steve Dupre, with the Sacramento FBI office, a woman in her mid- to late 50s, weighing about 200 pounds and wearing a black trench coat walked into the store at 4040 Manzanita Ave. around 3:30 p.m. Oct. 28 and tossed a note to a teller demanding money.
“No weapon was observed, but the note indicated the robber had a gun and would use it if necessary,” he said.
The teller put an undisclosed amount of money in a large, black leather purse that the robber had placed on the counter. The suspect then grabbed the handbag and fled the store in an unknown direction.
The suspect is described as 54 to 58 years old, about 5-foot-6-inches tall. She made no attempt to conceal her identity from the multiple cameras inside the grocery store.
