24-year-old drunk man threatens party with handgun
SAN LUIS OBISPO — A 24-year-old man was arrested late Wednesday night after threatening to shoot his roommate and others gathered at a party on the 1500 block of Oceanaire in San Luis Obispo, according to a San Luis Obispo Police Department press release.
Jason Kevin Hansen, who lives at the home where the June 23 party was taking place, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats and possession of a firearm, police said.
One of Hansen’s roommates was hosting the small party when a “very intoxicated Hansen” became agitated with a few of the guests, said Sgt. Jeff Smith, police spokesman. Hansen then went to his room and retrieved a .38-caliber revolver and pointed the gun “in a threatening manner” at several people attending the party, Smith explained.
After being confronted by one of his roommates, Hansen forced the roommate into his room, where he put the gun to the roommate’s throat and told him he was going to die, Smith said. The roommate was able to convince Hansen to put the gun down, at which time the roommate left the house and called police.
When the police arrived at 11:08 p.m., Hansen was found passed out in the living room from drinking too much alcohol, police said. Police were able to take Hansen into custody without further incident.
Hansen was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail, where he is being held at $50,000 bail.
