Alleged brotherly quarrel ends with fatal stabbing

SAN BERNARDINO – A Hollywood man remained in custody Friday facing murder charges stemming from the stabbing of his younger brother.
San Bernardino police caught Edgar Pelayo on a Greyhound bus at its G Street station, the chief suspect in the murder of his brother Phillip.
On Sunday, L.A. police said that Pelayo, 42, had left on foot after getting in argument with his brother at their Hollywood apartment in the Winona Blvd. section of the city at 4:30 p.m.
Police believe Edgar stabbed his older brother, who was rushed to an area hospital but failed to survive.
L.A. police discovered that Pelayo was on the bus heading to Calexico, at the U.S.-Mexico border and that the bus was stopping in San Bernardino, an hour east of L.A
Lt. Robert Binder said tips led investigators south in their efforts to apprehend Pelayo.
Early Monday morning, San Bernardino police arrested him. San Bernardino police spokesman Jarrod Burguan said his agency discovered that Pelayo was on the bus. Investigators took him into custody at 12:42 a.m.
The argument had escalated into violence, according to police reports. When Pelayo was taken into custody, San Bernardino police reported there was no resistance.
