SANTA BARBARA — Both the FBI and the Santa Barbara Police Department are actively soliciting the public’s assistance in connection with Friday morning’s robbery of a local bank.
It was just after the 9 a.m. opening of the door of the 3790 State Street Bank of America, located in the business district just north of downtown Santa Barbara, when a male suspect entered, approached a male teller and made a demand for cash.
“There was no weapon displayed, and nobody was hurt,” said police spokesman Lt. Paul McCaffrey.
The suspect promptly exited the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the area before law enforcement was summoned. McCaffrey commented that the police have “good surveillance photos” indicating that the suspect is a male, approximately 30 years of age, wearing a white baseball cap, glasses, dark blue zippered sweater, blue jeans, black gloves, white tennis shoes, and was carrying a dark shoulder-bag.
“It looks like he has a thin beard and mustache,” McCaffrey added, “but it may all be part of a disguise.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Santa Barbara Police detectives at (805) 897-2335 or their local FBI office.
