Police say Fresno sub had illicit contact with teen
FRESNO — A substitute teacher and high school basketball coach was arrested last week on suspicion of sexually assaulting a teenage girl.
William Green, 32, was arrested and booked into Fresno County jail on Friday, police revealed this week. Green was a substitute teacher for schools within Fresno Unified School District, and also worked as an instructional aide at Roosevelt High School. In addition, Green was a basketball coach at San Joaquin Memorial High School.
The potential sex charges against Green are not related to any of the schools where he has worked, investigators said.
Fresno Unified School District spokeswoman Susan Bedi said that, as an instructional aide at Roosevelt, Green “was never alone with students in that role.” She said that Green was immediately placed on administrative leave following the charges.
Police received information on March 8 that Green had molested a 14-year-old girl. Green has been a foster parent in the past, but police have not revealed the relationship between Green and the girl he is accused of assaulting. He most recently had a foster child in his home in the middle of last year, police said.
Police are waiting to see if any other victims step forward in this case. They are not releasing any more information at this time.
