ISLA VISTA –Narcotics detectives seized a large cache of drugs and cash after serving a search warrant last week less than three blocks from the University of California, Santa Barbara entrance.
Criminal activity in Isla Vista, the residential community immediately adjacent to the university campus, continues to rise beyond both the national and California median with the May 10 operation.
Evidence indicating a large-scale drug-selling operation was found in the residence of Calder Nold, 28, less than three blocks from the university’s main campus. Items seized by detectives included stores of cocaine, marijuana, Ecstacy, large numbers of prescription pills, scales and packaging. Sheriff’s authorities also recovered handguns, loaded 9mm magazines and more than $20,000 in cash in the raid.
An arrest, however, was not made.
“Mr. Nold was not contacted during the search and is believed to have been out of state at the time,” said sheriff’s spokesman Drew Sugars.
Sugars added that narcotics detectives believe Nold has since returned to the area and are actively searching for him on the authority of a superior court arrest warrant for possession of controlled substances for sales, and possession of firearms with controlled substances.
“He knows he’s wanted and is likely armed,” Sugars announced to the media. “If anyone sees him, do not approach him and contact law enforcement.”
Sheriffs officials are requesting any information about the whereabouts of Nold be directed to the Sheriff’s Anonymous Tip Line at (805) 681-4171.
