Traveling predator of the aged being sought
FRESNO — Sheriff’s detectives are currently seeking the whereabouts of a 27-year-old woman wanted for questioning in an elderly abuse and fraud investigation.
Detectives are asking the public’s help in locating Tiffany Eileen Thomas, who sheriff’s spokesperson Chris Curtice said was stealing personal financial belongings from an 83-year-old man for whom she provided in-home service care. Thomas came to work at the man’s northwest Fresno home through her employment at a private agency.
“While caring for the elderly man, Thomas allegedly stole his checks, credit cards and other property,” Curtice said. “She successfully passed them at several Wal-Mart Stores betweenFresno and Sacramento. The known loss to the victim was over $3,000.”
It is also believed that Thomas was committing her crimes during her work hours through the care provider, which gave her access to certain homes that required her services.
Curtice says that Thomas has been linked to similar investigations in surrounding areas.
“She is also wanted on an outstanding no-bail, felony fraud warrant out of Butte County,” Curtice said.
Her last known residence was on the 4000 block of East Dayton Avenue, located off the cross streets of Cedar and Dakota avenues in central Fresno, according to the sheriff’s department.
Thomas is described as an African American female with medium-length black hair and brown-colored eyes. She stands at 5-foot-6 and weighs around 190 pounds.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department at (559) 488-3111 or CrimeStoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867).
