Blythe man imprisoned for sex crimes
RIVERSIDE – A Blythe man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting his young female step-child over a period of seven years.
David Barocio, 41, pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated sexual assault with a minor, and was immediately taken into custody. Barocio was charged in June 1010 with multiple crimes, including one count of rape, three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, four counts of sexual penetration with a foreign object, one count each of penetration by force, oral copulation with a minor under 14, aggravated sexual assault of a minor, and lewd acts with a child under 14.
On May 30, 2010 Barocio’s wife, Lidia, came forward and told Riverside County sheriff’s deputies her husband had sexually assaulted the victim over a period of years.
Sheriff’s Detective Alberto Lourerio had reported “that she confronted David about his actions and he admitted to having sexual intercourse with” the victim. An arrest warrant was then issued.
Lourerio’s subsequent interview with the victim, 18 by that time, revealed that Barocio had intercourse with her and had sexually abused since she was eight-years-old.
The sexual abuse stopped, he reported, “when she was about 15-years-old after she threatened to tell her mother.”
According to the declaration, Barocio was interviewed and said he started having sex with the victim when she was 10, and did so for about four years. Riverside Superior Court Judge William S. Lebov dismissed other charges against him as part of a plea deal.
