Orosi man arrested for harassing young girls
OROSI – An Orosi man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly victimizing young girls at bus stops.
The suspect, 24-year-old Juan DelaCruz Nemecio of Orosi, was arrested by investigators with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office after female juveniles complained about a man at bus stops harassing them.
At around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Tulare Sheriff’s deputies responded to a bus stop in the 40700 block of Road 124. Deputies were told that a suspicious vehicle driven by a Hispanic male adult had been passing by the area, according to the sheriff’s office.
The suspect in the vehicle had reportedly been annoying and/or molesting children at the bus stop. He was identified as using verbal and physical motions toward the victims, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies located the suspect’s vehicle, described as a red/orange colored Chevrolet Tahoe, in the area of Road 124 and Avenue 416. The suspect was later positively identified along with his vehicle as being involved in the current case and several previously unreported similar incidents in the Orosi/ Cutler areas.
Nemecio is being accused of molesting and making obscene gestures to female victims ranging in age from 10 to 12.
“The incidents occurred over the past couple of weeks,” said Sgt. Chris Douglass with the Tulare Sheriff’s Office. “There were previously unreported cases that we discovered once we began investigating and (we) have identified eight victims to this point. There could be additional that have not been reported.”
Nemecio is being charged under California Penal Code 646.9a, which is “stalking.”
The Sheriff’s Office has an ongoing investigation regarding these incidents. If anyone has information regarding this case, they can contact Deputy Woolem at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.
