Antioch fugitive shot
ANTIOCH – An armed fugitive was shot and killed by police Monday evening near the 2400 block of Lemontree Court.
According to the Contra Costa County Coroner the suspect was identified as Joshua Peterson, 33, a transient.
Police found Peterson in a parked vehicle underneath a carport where several police officers fired several shots once a handgun was discovered in the suspect’s vehicle.
Peterson had two outstanding warrants for burglary and a probation violation for the sell of a controlled substance, according to a press release statement made by acting Capt. Leonard Orman.
While Peterson was pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner would not release the number of bullet wounds that taken to the body.
“The Contra Costa County District Attorney, the Contra Costa County Crime Lab and the Antioch Police are investigating the circumstances of the shooting,” states Orman in a press release.
