Man booked following alleged criminal threats

ANTIOCH – Police arrested a local man for sending criminal threats to area schools.

Larry Bantola, 36, was arrested for allegedly making criminal threats to schools located in Martinez, Concord and Pleasant Hill. Several criminal threats were made through email, fax and letters, according a statement prepared by Lt. Jon Sylvia of the Martinez Police Department.

According to news reports, Bantola was angry at a friend and was sending threats to area schools since Oct. 12.

Bantola was arrested at his home on Oct. 28 on the 4400 block of Buckeye Way.

“During the search of Bantola’s residence, evidence related to the threats was located,” Sylvia stated.

Tuesday police officials from the Martinez, Concord and Pleasant Hill presented their case to the District Attorney, where a complaint was issued against Bantola.

“The District Attorney Office issued a fourteen count felony complaint against Bantola, which includes seven counts of making criminal threats (PC 422) and (7) counts of impersonating another (PC 529),” according to a statement released by Sylvia of the, Bantola is currently in jail on a $350,000 bail.
