Traffic Stop Leads to Raid, Sheriff's Deputies Arrest 6
LOMA LINDA – Six people were arrested when a sheriff’s traffic stop on Saturday turned into uncovering a marijuana cultivation ring and gang-related activities, officials said today.
San Bernardino County sheriff’s made the traffic stop for reported vehicle code violations on Saturday.
On Monday, deputies served a search warrant at a home on the 10600 block of Polar Street, the site where the traffic stop occurred. Deputy Donald Patton discovered approximately a quarter-pound of marijuana.
A statement released by the sheriff’s department said that during the traffic stop, Samet Tuon, 28, exited the nearby residence “and was found to be on felony probation for possession of marijuana.”
It was during a probation search of Tuon’s bedroom that Patton found the marijuana. Tuon was arrested at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday.
On Monday, deputies found marijuana plants growing in a detached garage and in a bedroom, said the report, once the warrant was served.
“In the home, we also located ammunition,” said the report, adding that other gang paraphernalia, including a billy club and items used the sale of marijuana.
Three of the home’s occupants, including Tuon, Sovat Sim, 25, and Harry Ly, 25, were found to be members of a Long Beach gang, said deputies. Sim and Ly, who were in the vehicle stopped on Saturday, were not arrested until the police raid on Monday.
Sheriff’s bomb and arson investigators were also called to the scene.
Police also arrested Armond Trever Lair, 22, Tammy Christine Flaherty, 40, on charges of marijuana cultivation, criminal conspiracy, maintaining a drug house, while Flaherty was also booked on charges of child endangerment. Her eight-year-old daughter was taken into custody by county Children and Family Services.
Police booked Flaherty’s 17-year-old son into San Bernardino Juvenile Hall on investigation of possessing a deadly weapon.
Tuon was booked into county jail for investigation of possessing concentrated cannabis, along with participating in a criminal street gang, according to jail records.
Jail records show that Tuon is being held without bail, Sim and Ly are being held on $100,000 bail, Lair and Flaherty have each been released on $100,000 bail.
