Two Alameda men arrested for cultivating marijuana

Late Monday afternoon, Paul Frank Schaechter, 40, and Drew Coyle Flynn, 36, were arrested after a search warrant was executed based on a suspicion that the men were cultivating marijuana in their shared Versailles Avenue home.

Nearly two and half hours were spent searching the residence, where after Schaechter and Flynn were taken into custody by the Alameda PD.  Both men were charged with possessing marijuana for personal use (11357 HS), cultivating marijuana (11358 HS) and possessing marijuana with the intent to sale or distribute (11359 HS).

In California, marijuana possession for the purpose of sale is a felony and may be punishable by up to three years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The separate offense of cultivation carries the same penalty.

In addition to the marijuana charges, Schaechter was charged with violation of §4140 of the Business and Professions Code which regulates the circumstances under which an individual can posses a hypodermic needles.

The police would not quantify the amount of marijuana seized.
