One Man Dead, Two Others Shot In Home Invasion Robbery

SAN BERNARDINO – A triple shooting that left one man dead and two others wounded is being investigated by police on Tuesday.
The shooting occurred in the northwestern portion of downtown San Bernardino took place shortly before 4 a.m. in the 800 block of West 8th St. A fourth victim escaped unharmed.

“Two people confronted two other people,” said Lt. Gwendolyn Waters, spokeswoman for San Bernardino police. “The one who is deceased is one of the ones who confronted the victims.”
Milton Rivera, 50, of San Bernardino, has been arrested in the incident, said police. Both of the other shooting victims are brothers who, at this time, have not been identified by police. The other suspect, who was shot in the head, is a 34-year-old San Bernardino resident. He died at a nearby hospital.
Gunfire was reported at 3:49 a.m. at 8th and H streets, which is located east of Interstate 215. Two of the apparent victims live in that house, said Waters.
They were inside their residence when the two suspects forced entry, displayed guns and demanded money, she said.
Waters said the victims fought back “and struggled with the suspects over possession of the guns. Shots were fired, striking three of the four subjects.”
Police discovered the three victims. Waters said the other victims are suffering injuries “not life threatening.”
Waters, who said the shooting was likely drug related, said police are not seeking other suspects. “Whether there was a motive other than robbery has not yet been determined.”
Gang involvement is not suspected at this time, she said. The other suspect, a 34-year-old resident of San Bernardino, has not been identified.
Charges filed against Milton include home invasion robbery, murder and attempted murder, said Waters.
