A suspect was taken into custody for auto burglary on Tuesday.
According to Paso Robles police (PRPD), a resident reported an auto burglary in progress on the 2400 block of Winding Brook at about 11:20 p.m. The caller gave police a description of the suspect.
According to police, PRPD officers arrived on the scene and located a suspect matching the caller’s description. The suspect was exiting a vehicle parked in a residential driveway when he was spotted by a patrol officer who, with the assistance of other officers and his supervisor, arrested the suspect.
Michael Gary Wood, Jr., 41, of Paso Robles, was apprehended with incident, according to PRPD.
During their investigation and review of evidence, officers linked Wood to four other crimes which occurred prior to Tuesday’s arrest.
“Once the situation had been stabilized, this team coordinated a follow-up investigation which led to connection of this suspect to the other crimes. The suspect was found in possession of property stolen during those other crimes along with items used to facilitate his entry into some of these vehicles.” said PRPD Lt. Tim Murphy.
These crimes include one case of auto burglary, two cases of petty theft from a vehicle, and one case of vehicle tampering.
Wood was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of burglary, possession of stolen property, petty theft, prowling, vehicle tampering and possession of a controlled substance. His bail was set at $20,000.
