Riverdale arrest may also include more sexual assault victims
A 48-year-old Riverdale man’s arrest on continuous sexual assault on a minor now has Fresno County Sheriffs wondering if perhaps there may be more victims.
County Sheriffs on Thursday announced the arrest of Raymond Reyes Jr., who was booked in connection with repeated sexual assaults on a 14-year-old girl.
The investigation led authorities over to Riverdale High School, located south of the city of Fresno and where the young victim now attends school. The victim told investigators that not only was Reyes a long-time acquaintance of her family, but that she has been abused by him since she was eight.
According to Chris Curtice of the Fresno Sheriff’s Department, the search for Reyes branched all the way out to the state of Arizona.
“Detectives from the Sheriff’s Sexual Assault Unit responded and, during the investigation, learned that Reyes fled out of state,” Curtice said. “Detectives made contact with Reyes and eventually talked him into turning himself in.”
Reyes was arrested on Wednesday at the Sheriff’s office after turning himself in to authorities there. He was transported to Fresno County Jail on charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14 and the continuous sexual assault of a child under that same age bracket.
Yet, there is also the belief from County Sheriffs that Reyes may have a history of sexual acts with minors and that there may be more victims along with the Riverdale teen.
Anyone with information is being urged to contact the Sheriff’s Department office at (559) 488-3111.
