A burglar was caught in the act of robbing a home in San Luis Obispo by the owner of the residence early Friday morning.
San Luis Obispo police responded to an in-progress burglary at 3398 Broad Street. Police were informed a male suspect was being detained at the scene. Upon arrival, officers discovered the owner of the residence had come by the house at around 2:26 a.m. and discovered a burglary in progress.
Inside the residence was Mark Anthony Hernandez, 46, whom the property owner was able to detain until the arrival of officers a short time later. According to SLOPD, Hernandez had in his possession personal property taken from the residence. One of the recovered items was a silver ring that was engraved with the owner’s name on the inside.
Hernandez was later transported to the San Luis Obispo County Jail and booked on the charge of residential burglary. His bail was set at $50,000.
