Vacaville bank robbed by masked gunman
A Vacaville Bank of the West branch located at the Power Plaza shopping center on Helen Power Drive was robbed just before 5 p.m. on Monday.
Witnesses said the suspected robber was wearing a mask and had a gun on him. Reports state that it might have been a machine gun, according to the Daily Republic. Witnesses also stated the suspect’s gun was bigger than a regular handgun and that it had a long barrel.
According to the Daily Republic, witnesses decribed the suspect as a white male in his 30s. He was reportedly wearing a black mask and hood, jeans, white shoes and a green and yellow vest inscribed with the word “Sheriff.”
According to the Daily Republic, five minutes after the robbery was reported, police officers were on Nut Tree Road when they saw a car matching the description of the vehicle involved with the robbery. Officers lost sight of the vehicle however, which was traveling in the opposite direction of the squad car.
At 5 p.m., a countywide alert was issued for the suspect and vehicle believed to have been involved with the robbery.
