Alleged sex offender posts bail twice
The San Luis Sheriff’s Office Sexual Assault Unit took a man into custody after an investigation regarding ongoing sexual abuse of a child and domestic abuse at a Cambria residence.
On Thursday, March 8 arrested Enrique Merlos, 45, of Cambria for numerous sex crimes involving a juvenile victim. According to the Sheriff’s Department, Merlos was able to post bail the same evening and detectives issued him a protective order barring him from contact with his victims.
Sheriff’s Detectives continued their investigation into the domestic violence allegations and as a result requested an arrest warrant on Thursday, March 15 from the San Luis Obispo District Attorney’s Office for mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon to produce great bodily injury, and domestic violence causing injury. Merlos was taken into custody and posted bail that same evening.
The Sheriff’s Office Detective Division is asking anyone with information regarding this case to come forward. They are seeking information in this case as well as other cases Merlos may be involved especially other past victims.
