March 19 – Santa Barbara
Christopher Anderson, 32, was an inmate at Santa Barbara County Jail on March 12th, when Santa Barbara Special Investigation Bureau Narcotics Detectives learned that he had been the recipient of meth- amphetamine brought into that facility.
Several days prior, County Jail Custody Officers, according to Drew Sugars, SBSD Public Information Officer, “in performing routine incoming mail inspection upon letters addressed to Anderson, discovered writing paper laced with methamphetamine substance”. Sheriff’s Detectives were notified and subsequently investigated the letter’s point of origin through the U.S. Postal Service. It was soon determined that the letter had come from an address in nearby Goleta.
“At that time, a warrant for the search of persons and property at that address was issued,” Sugars reported in his statements to the media. At the address in question, Detectives discovered Margaret Morgan, 33, and arrested her on suspicion of having sent the methamphetamine to Anderson through the mail.
Also identified and arrested pursuant to the search warrant were three others: Jaime Estrada, 33, and Joe Hurtado, 34, were arrested for providing false information to the investigating detective, as Wanted Parolees at Large, for possession of narcotics paraphernalia, and are held without bond.
Also in the residence at the time of the execution of the search warrant was Jennifer Ludford, 28, who was arrested on the scene for being under the influence of and in possession of methamphetamines, and for transportation and sales of dangerous drugs. Her bail was set at $10,000
Anderson, still in custody at the time of the other arrests, was re-booked on the additional charges of Ramey Warrant, bringing dangerous drugs into a jail facility, transportation and sales of dangerous drugs, and conspiracy to commit a felony. His new bail was set at $30,000, and he remains in custody.
