Sheriffs arrest attempted murder suspect

A man is in custody after San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s deputies arrested him for suspicion attempted murder Friday evening in Los Osos. The suspect’s name is Michael VanHeuver, 23.

According to the sheriff’s department, deputies responded to a call regarding an assault around 5 p.m. on Friday. Deputies say when they arrived at the residence, located on the 1800 block of Seventh Street in Los Osos, they discovered an unconscious 56-year-old woman on the floor. Deputies say the woman was then transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment. Her identity is being withheld to protect her privacy.

Additional details of the case are being withheld while the investigation continues, according to the sheriff’s department.
