Santa Ynez – May 4
Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Drew Sugars reported the successful conclusion of what he described as “a sting operation” conducted over a ten-day period by Santa Ynez detectives pursuant to reports of a series of “indecent exposure incidents” observed on the premises of a local ranch.
Details of the “sting” were not revealed, other than Sugars’ indicating that “deputies observed the suspect openly masturbating in broad daylight”. The location of this activity was a pasture visible to motorists traveling on Acampo Road in Los Olivos, just north of Santa Ynez.
The suspect, Jesus Castillo Rodriguez, 46 of Lompoc, was contacted by deputies who determined that he was employed by the property owner as a ranch hand, and that one of his responsibilities was the maintenance of the horse pasture. Sugars did not comment upon the nature of Rodriguez’s maintenance protocols in that regard, only reporting that deputies arrested him on site and transported him to Santa Barbara County Jail where he was booked on charges of indecent exposure.
Rodriguez remains in custody on $35,000 bail.
