Vallejo police arrest two men in high crime area
Two men were arrested by Vallejo police on Saturday in a neighborhood known as a high crime and drug area.
According to the Vallejo Times Herald, officers saw two men that they tried to contact at the corner of Tennessee Street and Sonoma Boulevard. Police said one of the men appeared to have thrown away something that looked like it could be narcotics. Police tried to talk to the two men, but one, 37-year-old Robert Turner, allegedly tried to walk away. It was at that time that police tried to detain Turner, who then became violent, trying to kick the officer.
Police said as they held Turner to the ground, the second man, 44-year-old Marcus Cogmon of Vallejo, became combative and tried to intervene in the arrest of Turner. The second police officer used a Taser on Cogman after he became combative.
According to the Vallejo Times Herald, both Turner and Cogmon were arrested and booked on suspicion of loitering with the intent to engage in drug-related activities. Additionally Turner was booked on suspicion of possessing crack cocaine, battery on a police officer and using violent force to evade arrest. Cogmon was additionally booked on suspicion of resisting arrest, possessing marijuana. Cogman was also found to have an outstanding felony parole warrant.
