Police catch car thief
San Luis Obispo Police officers arrested a man for stealing a car on Tuesday.
According to SLOPD, officers took a report of a stolen vehicle on Saturday that had been taken from its parking spot in the downtown area near the intersection of Marsh and Chorro. During the course of the investigation it was determined that additional property was stolen, which enabled officers to develop leads that led to the identity of the suspect.
Officers say evidence led them to the suspect, Kevin Villalobos, 24, of San Luis Obispo, who had been living in a homeless camp in the 500 block of Chorro. According to SLOPD, based upon statements and evidence Villalobos was arrested for the theft of the vehicle and for possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
Villalobos was booked into county jail.
