Commercial burglars hit four businesses
The San Luis Obispo Police Department is searching for suspects who burglarized four businesses in the city. According to SLOPD, Goodwill Industries, Alano Club, Vallartas Restaurant and Panchos Restaurant were all victims of the burglars.
Police say all four burglaries occurred during the evening or early morning hours, after the businesses closed. All four businesses had a window smashed and money stolen out of the cash register.
Police say video surveillance from Goodwill Industries captured what appeared to be a white male, wearing dark clothes and who possibly had a large brown backpack on.
SLOPD detectives said they began investigating these burglaries and spoke with other detectives within the county. Detectives say they learned several other cities had multiple commercial burglaries with similar circumstances including Morro Bay, Atascadero, Pismo Beach and Arroyo Grande.
Police reported the Blue Sky Café in Morro Bay captured video surveillance of the suspect committing the commercial burglary on May 22. The suspect attempted to pry the business door unsuccessfully. Police say he then broke a window, entered the business and took money from the register. In the surveillance video, according to police, the suspect appears to be a white male in his 20s with a goatee, wearing a light colored baseball hat, dark jacket with an “AVIREX” logo on the back, light colored shorts and tennis type shoes. Attached with this news release are still photos taken from the video.
Police do not know if the suspect captured in this video is responsible for the additional commercial burglaries.
Police are asking anyone with information or recognizing the subject from the surveillance video is encouraged to contact your local Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 549-7867.
